We brought 3 Litchi saplings from Dehradun, some 5 years ago. In their first month, the water ran out at the farm and we drove all the way with cans of water that summer to keep their thirst quenched. In a year, the termites ate up their taproots and we dug deep around the base to fill the soil with Calotropis leaves. Once a borer ate up the pith and we injected neem oil to the stem. Last year the tips of sprigs wilted and we washed them with fermented butter milk.
Watching over it almost every day in five years, we turned into plant paediatricians.
And then this week, one of the three plants bore a bunch of flowers.
