GUEST CHEF WORKSHOPS

GUEST CHEF WORKSHOP - 1

KOLUMBU EXPERIMENT WELL RECEIVED

Kutz Bowl is keen to train chefs. It began a successful experiment on 4 February 2022.

Guest Chef Rangamani, 80 years old, rolled out the first chapter beautifully, on that day. She has lived all her life in Melukote-Karnataka-India, and has made KOLUMBU for her children, grandchildren and great grand children. An exquisite traditional dish that you can eat with rice, KOLUMBU is a lip smacking delicacy of the old world.

Rangamani taught how to make authentic KOLUMBU, using all organic ingredients. Her classroom on that day did cost Rs 200/- per participant, to cover the costs of material and and other arrangements. Participants were witnessed carrying containers to take away their share of what they created at the workshop.

Mind blowing response inspired us to move forward with many such workshops in the coming months and years.

ORGANIC JACKFRUIT CUTLET - A RARE DELICACY WITH SEETHA RAO

Friday, 4 March 2022 - 5 PM

Seetha Rao is an accomplished swimmer, whose team once swam the English Channel. She has always been our Rock of Gibraltar and is a big time jackfruit connoisseur. Inspired by her and her husband Arun's devotion to jackfruit, we have even planted over a dozen different types of jackfruit plants in our organic farm.

Seetha Rao makes delicious cutlets from raw jackfruit. And she is willing to share that skill with this community.

A fee of Rs 150 per person applies to cover the costs of material and process. And please bring a small box container to take away your share of what you create at the workshop.

COMMUNITY DIALOGUE - 1

By Dr. R Sudarshan EATING CLEAN: COMMUNITY DIALOGUE - 1;  Featured Speaker - Sindhu Ramachandra;  Friday, 15 July 2022 at 5:30 PM E ating clean is a lifestyle fundamental, easily ignored and abused in the fast lane of tongue temptations. And the long convoluted tube that we call 'gut' is often turned into a gutter that is forced to process what it is not meant for - synthetic food, herbicides, pesticides, and life-threatening substances. Sindhu is a biochemist with work experience from IISc. She pursues data science and AI in the context of biochemistry. An ardent believer in organic farming, she cares for clean foods. And she knows how unclean foods can turn your life upside down. Community Dialogues at the Farmer's House are an engagement with reason to restore the dignity of life. Come, listen, interact and benefit. Attendance is FREE. Register with Gagan at 97421 62956. * * * Farmer's House, Silverfish Books, Kutz Bowl and the Farmer's Market, # 1A, 13th Cross,...

A CURATOR'S AMARYLLIS

By Dr. R Sudarshan T he maiden book of the Silverfish Books curator ( https://www.amazon.in/Beauty-Queen-Pathway-Pageantry-Sudarshan/dp/9390924103 ) was published by Amaryllis in August 2021. To commemorate the day of publication, we planted Amaryllis at our farm. Some 8 months later, the Amaryllis has begun to bloom at the farm, coinciding with our curator's signing an agreement with Trinidad and Tobago in the wider Caribbean to provide them her mentorship in pageantry, based on her book. Coincidences are as impossible to explain as the spirit of symbolism is. Nonetheless, the book is now a milestone in the life avenue of Silverfish and the Amaryllis flower now is a milestone at the farm that's an integral part of our bookstore. THE CURIOUS CASE OF CULANTRO

By Dr R Sudarshan Y es. Culantro and not Cilantro. The long distance cousin of coriander that came from Mexico in the middle centuries to Europe and landed in India approximately some 300 to 400 years ago along with its Mediterranean cousin Cilantro, the coriander. Culantro is relatively rare but so much more stronger than coriander that once you are used to this, coriander recedes to a second choice. A couple of Culantro plants have been taken to the farm and are growing impressively well. Probably, there will be lots of seeds in a few weeks, so that we could propagate and feature the leaves in the weekly market too. And one plant of Culantro has prospered well in a pot at the store too.  For any relevant query,  message 81051 12990. * * * Padma Farms, Farmer's House, # 1A - 13th Cross, Kalidasa Road, VV Mohalla, Mysore.
