Out of the five Litchi plants we brought from Dehradun and planted at the farm some four years ago, three have survived. And one of them flowered this year for the first time and bore 7 fruits.
Systematically in the past one week, the birds have eaten away one fruit each day and 4 out of 7 have remained. In order to save them till they are fully ripe, the farmhands have covered them with a transparent bag.
But the birds were seen yesterday sitting on the bag and wondering how to break in. Soon, the savings might evaporate. And we may score a zero in this innings.
