REN

By Dr. R Sudarshan

The eastern world has been a minefield of philosophies for peace and every step of the way, some thought explodes into the heart and says something soothing.

While people have looked to the West for wealth, material bliss, and living comfort, they have always turned to the East for the sunrise of consciousness.

And among the gems of such philosophies is the Confucian thought of 'Ren'. Ren is your relationship with yourself and all around you. It is all about how through simple and sensible changes in our lives we can connect better with friends, families, and societies and build community, justice, fairness, and compassion.

In a nutshell, it is all about making oneself a better person and being a happier human being.

Ren is on the shelf. And so, peace is accessible.

LITERARY FICTION - STORIES OF LIFE IN ELEGANCE OF LANGUAGE

By Dr. R Sudarshan

Over 500 titles draw attention on a pinewood rack in an entire room meant for fiction at the Silverfish Bookstore. They are life stories from around the world, told in an individual prosaic style by well-known or less known authors.

And some 300 among them are clustered as literary fiction. They are master crafts of writers that build finesse to characters, in a language that's artistic. That's like a rare romance of your mind with a slowly descending warm chocolate cream down the tongue on a rainy day by the window sill.

The best of the world literary fiction at Silverfish - hand-curated with diligence.

COMMUNITY DIALOGUE - 1

By Dr. R Sudarshan EATING CLEAN: COMMUNITY DIALOGUE - 1;  Featured Speaker - Sindhu Ramachandra;  Friday, 15 July 2022 at 5:30 PM E ating clean is a lifestyle fundamental, easily ignored and abused in the fast lane of tongue temptations. And the long convoluted tube that we call 'gut' is often turned into a gutter that is forced to process what it is not meant for - synthetic food, herbicides, pesticides, and life-threatening substances. Sindhu is a biochemist with work experience from IISc. She pursues data science and AI in the context of biochemistry. An ardent believer in organic farming, she cares for clean foods. And she knows how unclean foods can turn your life upside down. Community Dialogues at the Farmer's House are an engagement with reason to restore the dignity of life. A CURATOR'S AMARYLLIS

By Dr. R Sudarshan T he maiden book of the Silverfish Books curator ( https://www.amazon.in/Beauty-Queen-Pathway-Pageantry-Sudarshan/dp/9390924103 ) was published by Amaryllis in August 2021. To commemorate the day of publication, we planted Amaryllis at our farm. Some 8 months later, the Amaryllis has begun to bloom at the farm, coinciding with our curator's signing an agreement with Trinidad and Tobago in the wider Caribbean to provide them her mentorship in pageantry, based on her book. Coincidences are as impossible to explain as the spirit of symbolism is. Nonetheless, the book is now a milestone in the life avenue of Silverfish and the Amaryllis flower now is a milestone at the farm that's an integral part of our bookstore. THE CURIOUS CASE OF CULANTRO

By Dr R Sudarshan Y es. Culantro and not Cilantro. The long distance cousin of coriander that came from Mexico in the middle centuries to Europe and landed in India approximately some 300 to 400 years ago along with its Mediterranean cousin Cilantro, the coriander. Culantro is relatively rare but so much more stronger than coriander that once you are used to this, coriander recedes to a second choice. A couple of Culantro plants have been taken to the farm and are growing impressively well. Probably, there will be lots of seeds in a few weeks, so that we could propagate and feature the leaves in the weekly market too. And one plant of Culantro has prospered well in a pot at the store too.  For any relevant query,  message 81051 12990. * * * Padma Farms, Farmer's House, # 1A - 13th Cross, Kalidasa Road, VV Mohalla, Mysore.
